Self Discipline

Self discipline is one area in my life that I have been trying to improve for what feels like forever. I would love to not have to spend any time resisting temptations or internally fighting myself. I have realized that where I lack self discipline, I also lack self awareness. Awareness is more than knowing what your preferences are and knowing your plan for the day. It’s the motivation, why you do what you do, noticing how you relate to others – it’s the deep stuff. It’s knowing who you are and what you’re doing. Setting Boundaries

Every relationship in your life is based on boundaries. They are the standards you set for what you tolerate. Your family treats you a certain way because they know exactly how far they can push you. The people you surround yourself with treat you the way that they do because they see how you treat yourself. They know your boundaries. If you think about it, the way you talk, what you talk about, and the level of respect expected is determined by a person’s limits. It’s necessary. (more…)

The Most Common Excuse

“I don’t have time” – Everyone

As much as we might hope or expect it to, life is not going to slow down so you can finally start your project, finish your book, take that trip or get some alone time. We all have the same amount of time in the day and we each have to learn how to get what we need in the time that we have. Or you don’t, which probably makes you feel overwhelmed and angry and eventually exhausted. You might start to feel like you don’t have a say in what you do because your time is owned by everyone else.   (more…)
