When Life Feels Overwhelming

I do not need to explain why emotional overwhelm has been at an all-time high lately. The news is terrifying, yet I can’t seem to keep my eyes off of it. I’m worried about every person that I care about, yet I can’t do anything to protect them. I planned to write about overwhelm even before the coronavirus outbreak, but I’m honestly glad that I waited because it’s more relevant now than ever. We’ve all been there. Control

Lack of control is a very common worst fear. People fear losing control of themselves or what they have, myself included. Sometimes though, we dwell so much about what we can’t control that we don’t take advantage of how much we do control. We don’t have control over the minutes passing or the way people think about us, but I would argue there is more that we can control than things we don’t. At least the things that matter. (more…)

Hitting Reset

We all need to at one point or another, and I don’t mean deciding to stay in your room all day watching Netflix. I mean when you take a good look at yourself and the way you spend your time and thoughts, and resetting your priorities.

Why Change Is Hard

The reason people don’t change is pretty simple. We don’t want to do hard things, we say we want to change, but we don’t want to be uncomfortable. Why would you choose to be uncomfortable when you can just stay the same?
We might work so hard on something until we finally make some progress that we’re happy with and then we become complacent. We don’t want to be uncomfortable anymore. How do we find a middle ground between being uncomfortable and being happy at where we are now? Wouldn’t it be so much nicer if you actually wanted to be uncomfortable? I mean, we can do that. The Most Common Excuse

“I don’t have time” – Everyone

As much as we might hope or expect it to, life is not going to slow down so you can finally start your project, finish your book, take that trip or get some alone time. We all have the same amount of time in the day and we each have to learn how to get what we need in the time that we have. Or you don’t, which probably makes you feel overwhelmed and angry and eventually exhausted. You might start to feel like you don’t have a say in what you do because your time is owned by everyone else.   (more…)

“Am I Where I’m Supposed To Be?”

I know I’m not the only one who has ever asked myself this. This has been kind of sitting in the back of my mind for a while and I felt like now was a good time to bring attention to it. Lately I have become more aware of little anxious feelings I’ve been getting, mostly at night. It’s almost like I can’t breathe, and I mean obviously it’s not that I truly can’t because my breathing is just fine, but I can feel something on my chest so it’s just seems harder, you know? It’s nothing like the suffocating feeling I’ve gotten before that I talked about here, but I’m hoping by the end of this you’ll know what I’m talking about. (more…)
